Tourist arrivals to Cyprus fell by 30% in March because of the war in the Middle East, the vice president of the Cyprus Travel Agents Association has said.

Christos Christou told a news conference in Nicosia, held as part of the TRAVEL EXPO CYPRUS 2026 event, that arrivals also show a sharp decline in the second half of April and in May.

He said some airlines have reduced their summer flights to Cyprus due to the regional security situation.

Christou added that bookings by Cypriots for summer holidays are showing “increased interest.”

The conflict involving Iran has had a wider impact on travel across the Eastern Mediterranean and Gulf region, with airlines adjusting routes, issuing advisories or reducing capacity because of security concerns. Tourism officials in several nearby destinations have reported slower bookings, caution from tour operators and short‑term disruptions to flight schedules as carriers assess risks in regional airspace.
