A man reported missing for two months was found dead in the morgue of Larnaca General Hospital, according to local media.
The family of of the deceased said they learned he had been admitted to the hospital on 19 March with cancer but had chosen not to inform them.
His son told a local paper that the family contacted the hospital days after his admission but were told there was no record of him.
They continued searching until police located the man in the hospital morgue on 21 May. He had died on 26 March and was placed in the “unclaimed” section.
The son accused the hospital of failing to notify the family and of withholding his father’s personal belongings.
He also questioned the stated cause of death, listed as aggressive cancer, saying the family no longer trusted the documentation.
