Cyprus is preparing its first major overhaul of special‑education legislation in 27 years, Education Minister Athina Michaelidou has said during a visit to Archbishop Makarios III Gymnasium in Platy.
Michaelidou told reporters that the ministry is drafting amendments aimed at giving schools more flexibility and improving support for students with additional needs.
She said the reforms will make children’s programs more individualized and more closely aligned with each student’s learning requirements, with greater emphasis on the pedagogical side of special education.
“We are making the program more personalized for each child,” she said, adding that the changes are designed to help schools “work better” and adapt teaching to the needs of their students.
