Cyprus posts 3.3% growth in second quarter, more than triple the EU average

The Cypriot economy has strong growth momentum and resilience, President Christodoulides said, noting that Gross Domestic Product growth reached 3.3% in the second quarter of 2026 — a rate more than three times the European Union average.

In a written statement, the President said the economy continued on a steady growth path despite the challenges and uncertainties of the international environment. He added that this positive trajectory was matched by consistently favourable assessments from international ratings agencies and by growing confidence among investors and businesses in Cyprus.

In a separate written statement on the GDP figures, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos attributed the more-than-threefold outperformance to prudent fiscal management, the stability of the financial system, strengthened investor confidence, and the dynamism of Cypriot businesses and workers.

He warned, however, that international uncertainties and the pressures facing households and businesses left no room for complacency.
