Cyprus showcased its protected‑origin and traditional food products at the “REGAL Branchentreff 2026” trade event in Vienna, the Energy, Commerce and Industry Ministry said Wednesday.
The ministry, together with the Cyprus Trade Center in Vienna, promoted halloumi, commandaria and zivania, as well as local wine varieties such as Xynisteri, Maratheftiko and Mavro. A halloumi tasting session — paired with fresh and dried fruits and vegetables — drew strong interest and highlighted different ways the cheese can be consumed.
The event, organized by REGAL Verlagsgesellschaft, is one of Austria’s key meetings for the retail and food‑supply sector, attracting importers, supermarket chains, wholesalers, buyers, quality‑control officials and senior marketing and sales executives.
Representatives of major Austrian institutions attended, including the Federal Economic Chamber, the Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs, and the Ministry of Agriculture. Cyprus’s ambassador to Austria, Andreas Ignatiou, was also present.
The ministry said Cyprus’s participation helped build new business contacts and strengthen existing ties in the Austrian food and beverage market, supporting efforts to expand the presence of Cypriot products in Central Europe.
