One person was killed and 15 wounded in two Russian attacks in Ukraine, just hours before a planned Easter cease-fire was due to take effect.
A “hostile drone strike” hit a shop and a café in the central city of Poltava, killing one person and injuring another, regional military administrator Vitalii Diakivnych said on Telegram.
In Sumy, near the Russian border in northeastern Ukraine, 14 people were injured in drone attacks on residential areas, according to regional military administrator Oleh Hryhorov. The wounded included a 14‑year‑old boy and an 87‑year‑old woman.
Russia has said a cease-fire for the Orthodox Easter holiday will begin at 3 p.m. local time Saturday and last through Sunday.
