Reports in the Cypriot press say the U.N. Secretary‑General’s personal envoy on Cyprus, María Ángela Holguín, will arrive on the island on June 6.

Politis reported under the headline “Holguín to Meet Leaders Separately on June 8 — This Time She Comes Seeking at Least a Minimal Strategic Agreement” that Holguín is returning after a four‑month absence and plans to hold separate meetings with the two leaders on June 8.

Citing its own information, the paper said Holguín is expected to stay in the region for about 10 days and will also meet other involved parties and stakeholders. After Cyprus, she is due to travel to Athens and Ankara.

According to the report, with the parliamentary elections in the south now completed, Holguín will sound out the leaders on whether there is any prospect for a “strategic agreement” — or at minimum, a strongly worded joint statement that could restart the negotiation process.

The paper said Holguín will review any progress made on core issues and on confidence‑building measures through contacts with the leaders, technical committees and civil society, and will also explore possible next steps. Depending on how her meetings unfold, she is not ruling out the possibility of a trilateral meeting with both leaders. The last such meeting took place on January 28.

Alithia also reported the June 6 arrival, while Haravgi ran the headline “Holguín in Cyprus on June 6.”
