Turkey’s Trade Ministry imposed 1.6 billion lira in administrative fines in 2025 on companies found to have endangered consumer health or acted against consumers’ economic interests.

According to information provided by the ministry, consumers filed complaints through CIMER, the e‑Government portal, email and written applications.

As of November 2025, the ministry had received 197,846 complaints involving defective goods and services, distance sales contracts, advertising violations, unfair commercial practices, warranty issues, after‑sales services and subscription contracts.

The ministry said its central and provincial units inspected about 409,000 companies between January and November.

Sanctions were issued against roughly 87,000 of them. Products deemed to pose risks to consumers’ health, safety or financial well‑being accounted for the 1.6 billion lira in fines.

The ministry’s “Alo 175 Consumer Hotline” continues to serve as a call center directing citizens to the appropriate authorities and offering guidance on resolving disputes.

The hotline receives an average of 1,000 calls a day. It handled 422,784 calls in 2024 and 431,758 calls through November this year.

Ministry officials also urged consumers to be cautious when purchasing goods and services.

They warned that in the tourism sector, one of the most common complaints involves consumers being invited to resorts with promises of free holidays and then pressured into signing contracts during sales presentations.
