President Donald Trump will decide within the next two weeks whether the United States will launch a military strike against Iran, citing a “significant likelihood” of upcoming negotiations.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the timeline during a Thursday briefing, reading a statement from Trump that emphasized diplomacy remains a possibility. “Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision on whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” the statement read.
Leavitt also confirmed that communication between U.S. and Iranian officials has continued throughout the conflict. Trump is expected to remain in close contact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the situation develops. The decision comes amid heightened tensions and ongoing military exchanges between Israel and Iran.
