A 67‑year‑old Belgian man was airlifted to safety Monday afternoon after falling ill aboard a passenger vessel about 110 nautical miles northwest of Paphos, according to Cypriot authorities.
Police said a helicopter from the force’s Air Operations Unit transported the patient to Nicosia General Hospital for treatment.
The national search‑and‑rescue plan “NEARCHOS” was activated, and a specialized nurse from the state health services’ emergency team was on board during the mission.
