Typhoon Wipha swept past southern Hong Kong on Sunday, triggering widespread disruption across the city. Authorities reported at least 33 injuries and the cancellation of more than 500 flights as the storm brought wind gusts reaching up to 65 meters per second.
Public transport was suspended, roads were closed, and over 700 trees were uprooted. Hundreds of residents sought shelter in government-run facilities as the city raised its highest storm warning signal for the first time since 2023.
The typhoon is expected to continue westward, with landfall projected in Vietnam later this week. Emergency crews remain on alert as cleanup and recovery efforts begin.
