FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Petroleum product sales in Cyprus climbed to 140,669 tons in June 2025, a 10.4% increase over the same month last year, the Statistical Service reports.
The sharp rise was driven by significant boosts in oil supplies to ships (up 228.6%) and airplanes (20.4%), along with a 320% spike in kerosene sales.
Increases were also noted in heating oil (30%), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) (19.4%), asphalt (9.2%), diesel (7.1%) and gasoline (4.6%).
Sales from fuel stations rose 7.4% to 60,113 tons.
Compared to May 2025, overall petroleum sales were up 4.6%, fueled by stronger demand for aviation fuel (13.7%) and kerosene (15.7%).
However, light and heavy fuel oil sales declined by 18.2% and 45.1%, respectively.
Petroleum stocks at the end of June increased by nearly 29% month-over-month. For the January to June period, total sales saw a 3.9% uptick from the same span in 2024.
