FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE — Nearly 4,000 counterfeit goods, including clothing, accessories and other products believed to violate intellectual property rights, were seized on Wednesday during coordinated raids in the Famagusta district, Cyprus police said.
The operation targeted seven retail shops and was carried out by the Police Intellectual Property Theft and Illegal Betting Crimes Unit in collaboration with Customs Department officials.
Authorities said the raids are part of a broader European initiative to combat illegal trade in counterfeit merchandise.
Of the seven establishments searched, four were found to be selling unauthorized goods.
Officers confiscated a total of 3,988 items, ranging from hats, bags, wallets and belts to mobile phone cases, plush toys and various other accessories.
According to a preliminary Customs inspection, all seized items were determined to be counterfeit imitations of registered brand-name products.
The investigation is ongoing under the jurisdiction of the Cyprus Customs Department.
