FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Health officials in Norway have confirmed 22 cases of hepatitis A in an outbreak linked to a popular restaurant in Oslo, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health said Thursday.
The outbreak was traced to the Frognerseteren restaurant, which closed on Aug. 1 after several patrons became ill.
Municipalities are now offering hepatitis A vaccinations to individuals who ate food prepared at Frognerseteren within the past 14 days.
Symptoms of hepatitis A include fever, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dark urine, pale stools, abdominal pain and jaundice, according to health authorities.
The Municipality of Oslo is working with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and other local governments to contain the outbreak.
