NICOSIA — Police in Cyprus are warning the public about fraudulent messages sent via social media and mobile phones that claim recipients owe fines for traffic violations.
The messages direct users to click on a link to pay alleged penalties. Authorities say the messages are fake and designed to steal money or personal information.
Police emphasized they do not contact the public in this manner.
Officials advised residents to avoid clicking suspicious links and to refrain from sharing personal or banking details. They urged caution when receiving messages that redirect to unfamiliar websites.
To verify or pay legitimate traffic fines recorded by the photo enforcement system, individuals should visit and enter their vehicle registration number along with either their ID card number, Alien Registration Certificate (ARC) number, or company registration number.
Users can then check for outstanding fines and proceed with payment through the Cyprus Police website at or via .
