Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has met with Guy Sidos, chairman and chief executive of France’s Vicat Group, to discuss the company’s expansion plans in Egypt’s cement industry. The meeting was held at government headquarters in the New Capital.
Industry and Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir and Sinai Cement Company Chairman Tamer Magdy also attended.
Madbouli said the government values its partnership with Vicat and is committed to providing a supportive environment for foreign investment as part of efforts to expand the private sector’s role in the economy.
He described Vicat as a key partner in the strategic cement sector, helping meet rising demand in Egypt.
The prime minister added that the government is ready to support the group’s expansion plans to increase production and boost competitiveness. El Wazir reaffirmed the state’s backing for serious investors and its work to expand industrial capacity and exports.
Sidos reviewed Vicat’s investments in Egypt, including the Sinai Cement factory, which has an annual production capacity of 3 million tons and in which the French group holds a majority stake.
He said the company is interested in further expanding its investments and thanked the government for improving the investment climate in Egypt and in Sinai.
