Romania will face a sharp drop in temperatures in early February, with nighttime lows plunging to minus 15 degrees Celsius in mountain depressions and daytime highs falling below freezing in the northeast.

From early February, the cold front will spread across the country, with daytime temperatures in northern Moldova dropping to between minus 7 and minus 10 degrees Celsius.

Nighttime and early morning temperatures will fall nationwide, bringing widespread frost and severe cold through next Wednesday, the ANM said.

Forecasters added that February is likely to bring snowfall and mixed precipitation, especially in northern, central and eastern regions.
