A weak low‑pressure system is affecting Cyprus, bringing periods of cloud and the possibility of isolated showers, the Meteorological Service said.
Tonight, skies will be mostly cloudy at times with a chance of isolated rain. Patchy fog may form locally toward dawn. Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 Beaufort, and seas will be calm to slight. Temperatures will drop to 9°C inland, 12°C on the coasts and 6°C in the higher mountains.
Tuesday will remain mostly cloudy, with local showers and isolated thunderstorms expected after midday, mainly in the western half of the island.
Snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos.
Winds will be southwesterly to westerly, initially light to moderate at 3–4 Beaufort, strengthening later to 4–5 Beaufort. Seas will be slight. Temperatures will reach 19°C inland and on the coasts, and 11°C in the mountains.
Tuesday night will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and possibly an isolated storm in the west. Winds will remain southwesterly to westerly at 3–4 Beaufort, locally 5 Beaufort on the coasts. Seas will be slight.
Wednesday and Thursday will bring occasional isolated showers and thunderstorms. Friday is expected to see more widespread rain and isolated storms. Snow or sleet may again fall on the highest Troodos peaks. Dust is expected in the atmosphere from Thursday night.
Temperatures will gradually fall slightly, returning to seasonal averages.
