President Nikos Christodoulides reiterated his commitment to creating conditions for the resumption of negotiations on the Cyprus issue, saying he remains focused on the goal and hopes that “through an honest dialogue” the groundwork can be laid for talks to restart.
Speaking before an event, Christodoulides was asked to comment on remarks by Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman, who said he would not engage in a blame game.
Erhürman, responding to the president’s call to clarify his position on the Cyprus issue, said he would address the matter during their Feb. 24 meeting and planned to raise questions of his own.
Asked about progress on Confidence‑Building Measures, Christodoulides said negotiators review developments at every meeting. “There is progress in some areas and not in others,” he said.
