National Guard to hold artillery firing exercises off Kition range

The National Guard will carry out artillery firing exercises at the Kition firing range later this month.

The National Guard General Staff (GEEF) said live firing by National Guard units is scheduled for four days: November 10, 11, 12 and 13.

On November 10, 12 and 13, firing will take place between 10am and 4pm, with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) also in flight over the same period.

On November 11, ships, helicopters and aircraft will carry out passes between 8am and 2pm. Artillery firing and UAV flights will follow between 2pm and 4pm.

The General Staff said entry to the designated danger area, which extends 20 kilometres out to sea, will be prohibited during these times to avoid accidents.

The firing range is designated LCTRA-04 (Area 1), and the maximum trajectory height of the projectiles is 35,000 feet.

The announcement included the geographical coordinates of the danger area, which runs along the coast off Kition.
