Turkish authorities seized 36.4 tons of narcotics, worth about 38.3 billion Turkish liras (821.4 million U.S. dollars), via 407 customs operations between January and June.
The seizures were heavily concentrated at critical transcontinental gateways and major aviation hubs, the ministry said in a statement marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
Turkish authorities have confiscated 108.7 tons of narcotics in over 3,400 operations since 2023, it added.
Türkiye has stepped up anti-drug operations in recent years as part of its efforts to combat drug production and trafficking nationwide and dismantle international organized crime networks. ■
