Mohammed al-Bashir, who has been appointed interim Prime Minister of Syria, says in his first interview that what the country needs now is peace and stability.
“Now is the time for the people to experience stability and tranquility,” Bashir told Al Jazeera during a televised interview.
Bashir will hold the position until March 1 next year and will lead a transitional government until then, after the Assad regime was overthrown over the weekend.
