Press briefing on new religious-minority cultural support plan set for 23 September, with applications closing days later
Cyprus’s Department of Contemporary Culture is to hold a press briefing outlining a new funding scheme aimed at supporting cultural activities run by the island’s recognised religious groups, as part of the Deputy Ministry of Culture’s efforts to promote cultural diversity.
The briefing on the “Cultural Activities Support Scheme for Religious Groups 2026” will take place on Wednesday 23 September, from 10am to 11am, at the Deputy Ministry of Culture’s offices on Ifigeneias Street in Nicosia’s Acropolis district.
The scheme is designed to provide targeted financial support for cultural initiatives led by Cyprus’s Armenian, Latin and Maronite communities. Officials said the aim was to establish a stable, well-structured funding mechanism capable of supporting significant activities carried out by the representative offices of the three religious groups and by organisations affiliated with them.
The ministry said the scheme was intended to create a transparent and effective means of channelling the financial resources needed to ensure timely and meaningful support for projects with genuine reach, impact and significance.
Applications will be open to the representative offices of the three religious groups, as well as non-profit organisations that meet the scheme’s criteria and are active in the cultural sphere or in promoting the cultural identity of the relevant community.
The briefing will set out the scheme’s objectives, core terms and evaluation criteria, eligible costs and funding levels, and the application process, which runs through the Grants4Arts online platform. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on preparing and submitting proposals. The event will be held in person.
Applications must be submitted exclusively via the Grants4Arts platform, with the deadline set for Monday 27 September 2026.
