Representatives and residents of eight communities directly affected by a planned asphalt plant in the Mitsero area are expected to gather outside the Supreme Court in Cyprus on Monday, as a ruling is awaited on an application to suspend work on the site.
On Sunday morning a protest was held on the Agios Ioannis to Kato Moni road. Residents and members of the “Communities in Action” initiative group called for work to be suspended on the relocation of the asphalt plant to Mitsero.
The demonstration centred on the spot where work to install the plant, which is to be moved from Tseri, has already begun.
The eight communities directly affected are Mitsero, Agrokipia, Malounta, Arediou, Agios Ioannis, Kato Moni, Orounta and Menoikio.
