Direct Democracy to hold island-wide march in Nicosia over high electricity prices

Direct Democracy Cyprus is organising an island-wide protest march over expensive electricity on Saturday, October 17, in Nicosia, calling on citizens to demand immediate and substantive solutions.

The party argues that in a country with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, it is absurd for citizens to pay for electricity as if it were a luxury.

It says high prices burden households, put pressure on families and drain businesses, creating an everyday problem that affects everyone regardless of political preference.

The gathering is scheduled for 16:00 at Eleftheria Square, with the march to the Presidential Palace setting off at 16:30. The protest outside the Presidential Palace is set for 17:00.
