A wave of bad weather is hitting Greece, with snowfall, storms and gale-force winds, mainly in western central and northern Greece.
Yesterday, the Scientific Risk Assessment Committee met, under the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vasilis Kikilias, and decided that schools in Western Macedonia will remain closed today.
On main roads in northern Greece, it was decided to ban heavy vehicle traffic until 2:00 PM today, while the use of snow chains is mandatory throughout the road network in Epirus, Thrace, almost all of Macedonia, Thrace and Western Thessaly.
Snow fell yesterday afternoon in the center of Thessaloniki.
