At least 40,000 federal employees in the United States have so far accepted the offer of a severance package for state employees, according to reports.
Severance packages are also called “deferred termination”.
The deadline for applying for the severance package is later today, and it is therefore expected that the number of applicants will increase throughout the day, according to the sources.
The packages are part of President Donald Trump’s public sector cuts.
