FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Millions of Egyptians gathered nationwide on Monday to show solidarity with Palestinians and oppose any displacement efforts, Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) reported.
Demonstrators carrying Palestinian and Egyptian flags assembled in public squares and mosques following Eid al-Fitr prayers, condemning Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
Protesters voiced support for Egypt’s leadership and called on the international community to act swiftly to end the conflict. The demonstrations also underscored Egypt’s rejection of a U.S. proposal, announced in January by former President Donald Trump, to relocate Gaza residents to Egypt and Jordan.
In response, Egypt has advocated a reconstruction and development plan for Gaza, which gained endorsement during an emergency Arab summit in March. This initiative aims to bolster stability and support the Palestinian cause while reinforcing Egypt’s stance against forced displacement.
