FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides delivered a keynote address at the 3rd Capital Link Cyprus Business Forum in New York City, emphasizing Cyprus’s potential as a bold investment destination and its strategic importance in fostering regional stability and prosperity.

Christodoulides highlighted Cyprus’s geographic and geopolitical significance as a bridge between Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. “Geography is destiny, but it is in our hands to form it,” he said. “Cyprus lies at the crossroads of the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia. A stable European Union (EU) member state with longstanding, excellent relations with all its neighbours – Israel, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Qatar. These relations have not been built overnight, but rather have flourished anchored on historic, cultural, political ties that go a very long way back.”

At the same time, Cyprus brings unique value; it serves as a natural bridge between Europe, the Middle East, the Gulf, and the US. This positioning is not only geographical; it is also geopolitical. And in this regard, it is strategic. It is a characteristic that served as the springboard that allows us to foster mutually beneficial cooperation and build partnerships that serve a common vision of peace, resilience, and prosperity.

He underscored the nation’s role as a reliable partner to the United States and its allies, citing Cyprus’s consistent contributions to peace and security in the Eastern Mediterranean and greater Middle East.

In addition, he outlined Cyprus’s economic achievements, including fiscal discipline, a 3.4% GDP growth rate, and reduced public debt, positioning the country as a European success story. He also emphasized Cyprus’s commitment to transatlantic relations and its readiness to collaborate with the U.S. on defense, security, energy, and investment initiatives.

Christodoulides praised the deepening of Cyprus-U.S. ties, particularly through the Strategic Dialogue, which he described as a foundation for advancing mutual goals. He expressed optimism about achieving historic milestones in bilateral relations, stating, “The sky is the limit.”

The President also addressed Cyprus’s upcoming presidency of the EU Council in 2026, reaffirming its role in safeguarding prosperity for European and American citizens. He concluded by inviting investors and business leaders to seize the opportunities Cyprus offers as a stable and thriving hub for international economic engagement.
