The Meteorological Department has issued back-to-back weather alerts as a prolonged heatwave continues to grip Cyprus.
A yellow warning for unusually high nighttime temperatures is in effect from 10 p.m. Sunday until 9 a.m. Monday.
Overnight lows are expected to remain elevated, reaching 26 degrees Celsius inland and along the coast, and 24 degrees in mountainous areas. This marks the second consecutive night under yellow alert.
An orange warning has also been issued for Monday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with maximum temperatures forecast to reach 43 degrees Celsius inland and 34 degrees in higher elevations.
It is the third consecutive day under orange alert conditions.
Authorities are urging the public to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak hours, and check on vulnerable individuals.
The extreme heat is part of a broader regional pattern affecting parts of southern Europe and the eastern Mediterranean.
