Cyprus’s Industrial Turnover Index rose 3.5% in July compared to the same month last year, reaching 159.9 units, according to figures from the Ministry of Finance.
The increase was largely driven by gains in manufacturing, which climbed 9.1% year-on-year to 156.1 units. Mining and quarrying rose 6.1%, while water supply and materials recovery posted a 6.5% increase. Electricity supply was the only major sector to decline, falling 15.7% from July 2024.
For the January–July period, the overall index rose 4.9% compared to the same period last year. Export activity showed strong growth, with turnover up 12.7% in July, while the local market rose 2%.
Among manufacturing sub-sectors, wood and cork products saw the largest annual increase at 23.2%, followed by basic metals and fabricated metal products (18.4%) and non-metallic mineral products (14.4%). Declines were recorded in textiles and apparel (-5.4%), paper and printing (-10.0%), and machinery and transport equipment (-3.7%).
The Industrial Turnover Index tracks monthly changes in revenue across mining, manufacturing, electricity, and water-related activities. Data is collected by the Statistical Service through surveys and administrative sources, covering enterprises with significant turnover or workforce size.
