The Consumer Protection Service has launched a nationwide inspection campaign targeting children’s toys ahead of the Easter holidays, aiming to remove unsafe products from the market.
The campaign will run until Easter and will cover more than 115 shops across Cyprus.
Inspectors will check toys for safety risks and non‑compliance with EU standards, with unsafe items to be withdrawn from sale.
The service said the effort is intended to strengthen consumer protection, particularly for children, and will also include on‑site guidance to retailers about their legal obligations and applicable safety rules.
As part of the campaign, the agency has published an information leaflet titled “Tips for Easter” on its website, offering advice on preventing common holiday‑related accidents. A second leaflet, “Dangers from Small Objects,” remains available online and provides guidance for parents on identifying choking hazards for children under three.
Consumers and businesses can contact district offices for further information, the service said.
