FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Two teenagers, aged 16 and 17, have been arrested for targeting moving buses with firecrackers in Limassol, according to authorities.
During a police search of the 17-year-old’s residence, officers discovered a motorcycle believed to have been used in the attacks, along with 60 firecrackers.
Both minors appeared before the Limassol District Court, which ordered their one-day detention for further investigation. Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the incidents.
Authorities had been working to identify two individuals suspected of targeting buses on Amathus Avenue with firecrackers for several days after a fireracker was thrown from a bus window, exploding in front of the driver.
Witnesses said two young individuals were responsible for similar attack at the same location, where firecrackers were thrown at buses without causing injuries.
The perpetrators were seen using a motorcycle, tossing firecrackers as buses slow near bus stops.
The driver involved in the latest attack was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures and is in good health, though he reported slight shock.
