India and Russia signed a series of agreements Friday covering migration, health, food safety, maritime cooperation and commerce during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two‑day state visit.
The accords were inked in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Putin, who concluded his trip Friday. India also announced it will grant Russian nationals a free 30‑day e‑tourist visa on a reciprocal basis.
In a joint statement, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the “special and privileged strategic partnership” between their countries. They also pledged to expand cooperation in nuclear energy, including fuel cycle and life cycle support for the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu, as well as non‑power applications.
