More than three quarters of Slovenian companies face obstacles in digitalizing operations, the national Statistics Office said Thursday.
The survey found 76% of enterprises with 10 or more employees — up from 60% in 2021 — reported difficulties. Challenges cut across all sizes, affecting 75% of small firms, 80% of medium‑sized firms and 82% of large firms. By sector, 77% of manufacturers and 75% of service providers cited similar problems.
A shortage of skilled staff remains the most common barrier, noted by 56% of respondents. Financial constraints and slow management adaptation followed, each reported by 41%.
Despite the hurdles, 53% of companies said digital transformation is not essential for success, a view most common among small firms. Two thirds of small and medium‑sized businesses have nonetheless reached at least a basic level of digital maturity.
Under EU Digital Decade targets and Slovenia’s national strategy, 90% of companies are expected to achieve basic digital maturity by 2030.
