North Korea has begun building a memorial to honor its soldiers killed while fighting in Russia’s war in Ukraine, state media reported Thursday.
The “Memorial Museum of Combat Feats” is being constructed in the capital, Pyongyang, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Leader Kim Jong Un and Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Matsegora attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
Kim said the project marks a “historic high point” in North Korea’s relationship with Russia, which has deepened since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
North Korea has reportedly sent thousands of troops and weapons to support Russian forces.
