While overall tobacco use has declined in Denmark, the proportion of young people using e-cigarettes has increased, according to the study “Smoking Habits of Danes,” sponsored by the Danish National Board of Health.
The study reveals that e-cigarette consumption among young people aged 15 to 29 has risen from seven percent in 2022 to 12 percent in 2024.
The most common reasons cited for using e-cigarettes are to reduce tobacco consumption and because of the appealing flavors.
Almost a third of young people use at least one tobacco or nicotine product, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and nicotine pouches.
In comparison, 23 percent of the entire population uses at least one tobacco or nicotine product.
