FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche will investigate whether a new medication can delay or prevent symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease.
The clinical trial involves the experimental drug “Trontinemab” and will target individuals at risk of cognitive decline, the company announced Sunday.
The goal is to postpone or prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s symptoms.
Trontinemab is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier, which normally prevents chemicals in the bloodstream from entering the brain.
The aim is to deliver more of the treatment directly to the brain.
Several competitors have made progress in the field.
Last week, the European Medicines Agency recommended approval of Eli Lilly’s drug Kisunla for certain patients.
Kisunla is already approved in the United States.
