Israeli aircraft have bombed at least three major Syrian airbases and destroyed a significant number of fighter jets and helicopters, two Syrian security sources told Reuters.
The wave of airstrikes on Monday is the most extensive since the Assad regime was ousted on Sunday night.
The Qamishli base in northeastern Syria, the Shinshar base in the Homs area and the Aqrba airport southwest of the capital Damascus were all hit during the Israeli attacks, the sources said.
