FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – A 60-year-old man has been arrested by Limassol police for impersonating a doctor and defrauding an elderly woman of cash and valuables.
According to the complaint, the suspect contacted the woman, claiming to be a doctor at Limassol General Hospital.
He falsely informed her that her grandson was in a serious accident and required an urgent transplant to avoid amputation.
The woman met the suspect at a predetermined location in Limassol, where she handed over €5,500 in cash, along with jewelry and gold coins valued at €10,000.
Authorities recovered a sum of money and a quantity of jewelry, believed to be the stolen items, from the suspect’s car. Investigations are ongoing.
