FG – Syria’s anti‑narcotics department dismantled a drug trafficking network in the countryside outside Damascus and confiscated more than 160,000 Captagon pills.
Two suspects were arrested and legal proceedings have begun, according to the SANA news agency. Some of the pills were hidden inside car batteries prepared for smuggling abroad.
Captagon, a synthetic stimulant developed in the 1960s, was banned in most countries in the 1980s due to its high potential for addiction.
Authorities said Syria has intensified anti‑narcotics operations in recent months, working with neighboring countries to destroy large quantities of illicit substances and dismantle trafficking networks.
