Turkey exported 2,071 tons of honey to 31 countries in the first quarter, earning $9.23 million, according to data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association.
The United States, the United Kingdom and Canada were the top buyers. Exports totaled $2.6 million to the U.S., $1.1 million to the U.K. and $1.07 million to Canada. Shipments were also made this year to several markets not seen in the same period last year, including the Philippines, Venezuela, Denmark, Syria, Liberia, Somalia and Congo.
Saffet Kalyoncu, head of the exporters’ association, said the sector maintained stable performance and broad market diversity in the January–March period. He said Turkish honey continues to be preferred for its quality and natural characteristics.
Kalyoncu said efforts to increase exports are ongoing, with a focus on improving product quality, strengthening traceability and expanding branded exports. He said promotional work will target Asian and Middle Eastern markets and that the sector aims to raise export figures by year‑end.
