Turkey began a large-scale naval exercise Wednesday involving 92 warships and 66 aircraft across the Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Seas, the country’s defense ministry said.
The drill, named “Sea Wolf-I/2025,” is aimed at testing operational readiness, command coordination and multi-unit response capabilities under high-intensity conditions.
The ministry said the exercise will run through Oct. 10 and includes scenarios such as anti-submarine warfare, mine countermeasures and amphibious operations.
Turkish media reported that last year’s “Sea Wolf-II/2024” featured the debut of the MARLIN IDA, an unmanned surface vessel equipped with electronic warfare and reconnaissance systems. Officials described the technology as a NATO-level innovation.
The ministry said integrating such systems into the naval arsenal enhances Turkey’s ability to respond to future crises and potential conflicts.
