Turkish authorities seized more than 5.5 tonnes of narcotics and detained 153 suspects at the country’s northwestern border with Greece and Bulgaria in the first nine months of 2025, officials said last nighty.
Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer said the seizures included cannabis, skunk, cocaine, methamphetamine and thousands of synthetic pills, marking a 123% increase from last year.
Edirne is a major transit point for drugs bound for Europe.
Officials cited tighter border controls and improved intelligence sharing.
Nationwide, more than 81,000 suspects have been arrested since June 2023, according to Interior Ministry figures.
