Rainfall in Cyprus was much lower than normal in February and early March, according to the Department of Meteorology.
From February 1 to February 28, the average total rainfall was only 41% of the usual amount for February.
The average total rainfall from March 1 to March 4 was just 0.5 millimeters, which is 1% of the usual amount for March.
The highest rainfall recorded was in Prodromos with 2.5 millimeters, in Platania with 2 millimeters, and in Athalassa (Nicosia) with 1.8 millimeters.
Normally, February sees an average total of 81.6 millimeters, but this year the total was only 33.6 millimeters.
