The United Kingdom will reveal a comprehensive sanctions package against Russia on Monday, coinciding with the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The announcement was made by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy early Sunday night.
“This is also the time to tighten the screws on Putin’s Russia. Tomorrow I plan to announce the largest package of sanctions against Russia since the first days of the war,” Lammy stated.
The UK has already imposed sanctions on 1,900 individuals and organisations linked to President Vladimir Putin and the Russian government.
These sanctions target Russia’s financial, aviation, military and energy sectors, including asset freezes, travel bans and trade restrictions.
Last week, EU countries agreed on a new round of sanctions, including a ban on aluminium imports from Russia. These sanctions are set to be formally adopted on Monday.
