FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – President Nikos Christodoulides paid an unannounced visit to Paphos General Hospital on Monday evening, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services.
During his visit to the Accident and Emergency Department, Christodoulides spoke with staff and patients about wait times and operational challenges.
The visit follows his inspection of Nicosia General Hospital the previous day, signaling an ongoing review of hospital conditions across the country.
Last November, Paphos Mayor Phedonas Phedonos said Paphos General Hospital, which was flooded during heavy rain, was “built with very poor-quality work.”
He said the building was “a shambles” and that the ceilings had previously leaked during rain.
“Many buildings are 35 years old and do not have such problems,” he said, adding that his municipality had been warning about the hospital’s condition “for about five years.”
