FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Authorities in Cyprus have seized nearly half a ton of cannabis this year, underscoring the alarming scale of drug trafficking in the country.
According to police reports cited by Phileleftehros, a total of 456 kilos of cannabis were confiscated from January to June 4.
This follows last year’s total of 617 kilos.
The drugs reportedly arrived via two airports, hidden in suitcases, and through courier shipments.
Larnaca Airport has emerged as a key entry point, with 117 kilos intercepted there this year.
Just last week, authorities confiscated 23 kilos from the luggage of a 25-year-old Australian traveler.
