More than 55,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 2023.
The number averages 90 deaths per day over 614 days and does not account for thousands of missing individuals believed to be buried under rubble or those lost to hunger and disease as Gaza’s health system collapses under blockade.
Most victims are women and children.
At least 41 people were killed Wednesday, including 25 civilians trying to reach a food distribution center set up by Israel and the United States.
The Israeli military said warning shots were fired, claiming that suspicious individuals posed a security risk.
Since the aid center opened two weeks ago, 163 people have died and more than 1,000 have been injured.
