FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE  — Maria Angela Holguin, the U.N. secretary-general’s personal representative in Cyprus, wrapped up a series of meetings Thursday and is expected to return to New York to brief Secretary-General António Guterres, according to reports in the Cypriot media.

Holguin met with local officials and negotiators, visited sites along the Green Line . The Phileleftheros newspaper reported the envoy expressed skepticism about progress on issues discussed at the March Geneva conference.

Holguin’s agenda included talks on establishing new crossing points, developing a solar park and clearing landmines. Phileleftheros reported no advancement on any of the three topics following her meetings with Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelau and Turkish Cypriot Special Representative Güneş Onar.

Politis newspaper highlighted the lack of agreement on new crossings but said Holguin and her team are pushing for even limited progress. Discussions reportedly covered all five proposed crossing points introduced at the Geneva talks.
